Will the World End in 2012? ~ Raymond C. Hundley, Ph. D

Over a decade later 2012 is eclipsing the Y2K maelstrom as the universal anticipation of the apocalypse. The repercussions of this pandemonium are found everywhere including a plethora of literature on the matter. Now I love and have studied biblical eschatology for many years, therefore Raymond C. Hundley's Will the World End in 2012? is right up my alley. In this book Hundley uniquely blueprints the religious, scientific and secular origins of this particular doomsday obsession allowing the reader to objectively comprehend the extent of its global and cultural impact.

Will the World End in 2012? introduces a myriad of predictions ranging from primitive to recent past such as the more valid expectancies of severe solar storms, CERN's Large Hadron Collider mishaps, rare galactic alignments, super volcanic eruptions and a magnetic pole reversal. On the other hand, Hundley delineates the neutrally potential significance of the Mayan calendar and other religious prophecies, as well as the rather vague predictions of Nostradamus, Web Bot and a collision with Planet X. Each categorized chapter opens with a fictional scenario to compliment the desired unbiased perspective. The author follows with a gently informative guide to salvation in Christ for non-believers along with a self-reflective preparation for Christians. The book concludes with a nice study guide corresponding to each case.

Raymond C. Hundley's work is culturally educational and left me on higher alert regarding CERN's LHC (which I have followed for several years), the imminent increase in solar storms and, moreover, the inevitable eruption of Yellowstone's super volcano. Additionally insightful is the author's chilling recount of his trip to Columbia during the Nevado del Ruiz eruption. It is also a delight to read Hundley quoting two of my favorite Christian scholars Mark Hitchcock and, especially Dr. David Jeremiah. There is a complete spoiler alert for those who have not viewed the movie 2012. I also wish that the author elaborated more on the 1859 solar storm. All in all, Will the World End in 2012? is a frightfully enjoyable read to really get your mind aligned with your soul...and your soul aligned with eternity.
