Magnificently formatted, Mark Hitchcock's The End is inundated with first-class eschatological insight. It is above and beyond the expectations of any end-time student and biblical scholar, and is a wonderful guidebook for any prophecy enthusiast. I have studied eschatology for years and more extensively, for the past seven. The End exceedingly assists in helping the mind organize chronology, geographic locations, characters, events and particular standpoints in prophetic beliefs.
Hitchcock lays out the foundations for each subject matter followed by repetition for clarification before proceeding to the next chapter. By its conclusion the audience has a splendid visual and understanding of end-time scenarios - so monumentally crucial in these latter days. The author creatively displays diagrams, charts, and outlines for the reader to enjoy, which is a bonus for those who may tend to get distracted and glazed over with a superfluous amount of academic terminology and research.
The reader is taken on an outstanding step-by-step journey through The End as Mark Hitchcock expounds on hermeneutics, The Law of Proportion, Daniel's Seventieth Week, the "gematria" - numerical indications of names - of key figures, the content and timeframe of the Seven Seals, Trumpets and Bowls, and so much more. Articulate details are vividly illustrated on the Rapture, the Second Coming, Armageddon, the Great White Throne Judgment, and the majestic Heaven and Eternity. There is also a reflective survey to prepare for the approaching judgment. It is very intriguing and equally gratifying to have such a coherent presentation on the Millennial Kingdom, a topic that is so often overlooked or conveyed in such a myriad of contradicting details that the remarkable event is lost in translation.
The End is obviously written and demonstrated by an experienced attorney, the former occupation of the author, hence the lucid comprehension and layout of the content. He not only authenticates his point of view (i.e., futurist, premillennial), but explains all possible avenues, then proceeds to defend his own. It will definitely take some time to read through if the audience wants to saturate the voluminous information. Twenty pages of notes were profusely taken by yours truly. And since I do hold to the same faith and perspective as Mark, this large hardback (504 pages) proved highly valuable for my spirit and in-depth studies.
Mark Hitchcock is a favorite biblical prophecy teacher of mine for many years, however this is the first work of his that I have had the opportunity to embrace. An opportunity that quickly became a privilege. It is strongly recommended that this book be given or passed along to other Christians and unbelievers alike, whether they are aware or not of the impending events just around the corner. The minutiae of eschatology can get tangled and either forgotten or misunderstood. Hitchcock's The End puts…well, an end to that.
Mark Hitchcock is a leading Bible prophecy expert, author of more than twenty books on the end times, senior pastor, and adjunct faculty member of Dallas Theological Seminary. He ahs appeared in print, on hundreds of radio programs, and on the History Channel, MSNBC, FOX, Glenn Beck, and CNN. Formerly an attorney, Mark thought his career was set after graduating law school in 1984. But after what Mark calls a "clear call to full-time ministry," he changed course and went to Dallas Theological Seminary, completing a master's degree in 1991 and doctoral degree in 2006. Since 1991 Mark has served as senior pastor of Faith Bible Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. He and his wife, Cheryl, live in Oklahoma with their two sons.
