Can mysterious matchmaking booksellers bring two lonely hearts together in time for Christmas?
In a sleepy, snow-covered city, Cora Crowder is busy preparing for the holiday season. Searching for a perfect gift, a fortuitous trip to Warner, Werner, and Wizbotterdad’s (a most unusual bookshop) leads to an unexpected encounter with co-worker Simon Derrick. And the surprise discovery of a ticket for a truly one-of-a-kind Christmas Ball.
Every year, the matchmaking booksellers of the Sage Street bookshop host an enchanting, old-fashioned Christmas Ball for the romantic matches they’ve decided to bring together.
This year, will Simon and Cora discover a perfect chemistry in their opposite personalities and shared faith? Or will the matchmakers’ best laid plans end up ruining everything this holiday?
Books motivated her even better than sweets,
and Sandy did like sweets.
and Sandy did like sweets.
Overflowing with holiday spirit, Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball captures the imagination of all ages. Mystery unveils spooky computer screens, a cordless antique phone, a missing street and fantastically disintegrating costumes. Moreover, the romantic buildup between Simon and Cora walks a fine line amidst reality and fantasy infusing the Christmas lore with even more glee.

...his heart thumped inside his chest until he knew everyone around could hear.
Exquisitely molded characters colorize the fairy tale with animated delight. Donita K. Paul's originality and penchant for fun, quirky names and playful twists are brilliant. How will the reader after finishing these pages ever forget the names of the Booterbaw sisters or the absolutely divine Sandy, sister to the dashing Simon? Her precious and very angelic personality and dialogue are effortlessly captured by the author. Sandy's innocence and determination are a balm to any heart. Of course, no adventure would be complete without the wicked adversary, in this case it arrives in the form of Cora's obnoxious sister, Zee. Paul zaps lightning bolts of tension here and there to make anyone's blood boil for added drama to burgeon in the splendid finale.
Further points of interest sprinkled throughout tale include an educational defense on wizards incorporated into Christian lore, insights about a fishwife and the the intriguing biblical significance of Simon's name. Some loose ends remain upon the close of the story. This can suffice, however, for such a mysterious fantasy, not to mention that the book easily merits a sequel, whether seasonal or not.
Be brave and try new things.
The beautiful hardcover dust jacket displays artwork much like a holiday movie poster emphasizing it's wondrous content. Hence a novella, this quaint little read is fabulous for a couple of nights beside the fireplace or twinkling lights of the Christmas tree. A genuine fairy tale that unfolds with a beloved Christian foundation, Donita K. Paul opens the mind into a world of magic and romance in Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball.
