Andrews brilliantly divides up his storytelling with the introduction, conclusion...and tale in between. The account is mesmerizing to say the least. The fact that this is a true story is the icing on the cake. The book concludes with a Where Are They Now? followed by a helpful Readers Guide. The finale will take your breath away.
I am absolutely in love with this story. Andrews is gifted amongst the ranks of C. S. Lewis, Frank McCourt, Steinbeck and Fitzgerald. This year has opened the door to many new authors and literary works that have astounded me with delight. Many new favorites have been added to my literary hall of fame, therefore to proclaim that The Heart Mender is a favorite of mine would be an understatement.
Andrews' words will stand the test of time. The Heart Mender is a lovely, unforgettable blessing.
